Torrance, Calif. – Jan. 31, 2013 – Geoscience Australia has taken delivery of six APS-3G high-precision satellite surveying instruments from U.S. manufacturer Altus Positioning Systems.
The Altus APS-3G GNSS RTK receivers are being used primarily for rapid-response surveying operations in the event of natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods, as well as daily surveying applications.
The equipment was supplied by GlobalPOS Pty Ltd, Altus’ authorized dealer in Australia, which provided a complete package of high-power repeaters, tripods, poles, data loggers, software and extended warranty.
“Geoscience Australia was looking for the best value for money, and the Altus products meet the performance requirements at a lower price point than other major brands of GNSS RTK receivers,” said Brad Stephenson, GNSS Solutions Specialist, GlobalPOS. “In addition, the APS-3G is easy to operate with very little training and its compact size makes for easy airfreight deployment.”
“Our growing success internationally is being driven by our distribution partners like GlobalPOS,” said Altus president and CEO Neil Vancans. “GlobalPOS is the top GNSS specialist company in Australia and provides extensive technical support, service and field training for our products from its offices in Western Australia, Queensland and New South Wales.”
Geoscience Australia is a government agency that provides geoscientific research and information about the use and management of resources, management of the environment, well-being of populations and sustainable energy opportunities.
