Merrick & Company Opens Washington DC Office with Boehne as Senior Director

Washington, DC – September 2012 – Merrick & Company (www.merrick.com), an ENR Top 100 engineering, architecture, design-build, surveying, and geospatial solutions firm, announces a new office in Washington DC. With the addition of this location, Merrick will continue providing engineering, design and project management services for both international and domestic projects as well as pursuing new business opportunities in the nearby regions. The firm’s focus on Life Sciences, Nuclear Services & Technology, Energy, National Security Facilities, Civil Infrastructure, and GeoSpatical Solutions will continue with projects both domestic and international.

“In our efforts to expand our geographic footprint on a global basis, I am happy to announce the addition of Richard Boehne as Senior Director of the Washington DC office. We are delighted to have Richard join our team here at Merrick. Not only does he bring an excellent international perspective but will greatly benefit our business development activities, our current clients and potential clients,” said Merrick’s Bob Berglund, Senior Vice President, International Programs.

Richard will work toward growing Merrick’s international business as well as enhancing our Washington DC presence. Richard’s work will span all of Merrick’s markets with a strong focus on supporting Life Sciences, Energy, Infrastructure, National Security and Nuclear Services & Technology market sector teams. His geographic responsibility will focus on non-US pursuits for Merrick’s 14 offices. Richard contributes more than 20 years of key knowledge in the US and international business environment. His background in US government contracting, international business development and commercial sales will be leveraged to enhance Merrick’s current portfolio of projects and clients. Boehne joins Merrick from the prior 12 years with Raytheon, where he held a range of senior positions in business development and program management. He holds a Master in Science in Environmental Health & Toxicology from Colorado State University and a Master of Science in Safety Management from The University of Central Missouri.

Merrick purposely balances its geographic office locations to take advantage of and protect the firm from regional economic fluctuations. The new DC area office will foster the firm’s improved connection with non-US programs of US Government entities and with international programs of multi-lateral development organizations.

Merrick, an employee-owned company, initially expanded beyond US borders with the opening of its Mexico office in 2002 (after being involved in Mexico projects since 1996) to serve its geospatial community. Several years later, Merrick opened its Canadian office and most recently, in 2012, has added a United Kingdom office.
