RETTEW Welcomes Doughty as Director of Survey

Lancaster, Pa. — RETTEW, an Engineering News-Record top 500 design firm providing surveying, engineering, transportation, environmental consulting and planning services, recently welcomed John E. Doughty, PLS, as director of survey.

“John brings to RETTEW proven leadership capabilities and a wealth of experience in surveying, all of which will serve our clients very well,” said Mark Lauriello, PE, president, RETTEW. “I welcome John to RETTEW.”

As director of survey, Doughty is responsible for providing vision and leadership to RETTEW’s survey department as well as developing the department’s strategic plan, ensuring that it aligns with RETTEW’s overall goals relating to revenue and continued market growth. Working primarily from RETTEW’s Mechanicsburg, Pa., office, Doughty also oversees the day-to-day operations of the survey group. Collectively, the group provides boundary, as-built, utility, aerial, topographic, conventional, ALTA, geodetic, control, hydrographic, Global Positioning System (GPS), monitoring, right-of-way, easement, conservation mapping, construction stakeout and highway stakeout surveys to a variety of clients. The group also specializes in the delivery of well platting, well unit, pipeline routing and pipeline as-built surveys.   

Doughty comes to RETTEW with 36 years of surveying experience, which includes his serving as director, senior project manager and geospatial data coordinator. He is the former owner and president of Doughty Surveying, Inc., a land planning and surveying firm. Doughty is also an experienced cartographic coordinator; he has managed surveying and mapping departments.

Doughty has an associate’s degree in land surveying from Zane State College (formerly Muskingum Area Technical College). He is a registered professional land surveyor in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Hampshire, Vermont and Washington DC. He is a member of the District of Columbia Association of Land Surveyors  and New Hampshire Land Surveyors Association. Doughty resides in Hedgesville, Berkeley County, W. Va.
