TerraGo Technologies Certifies Topcon GRS-1 for Use with TerraGo Mobile

TerraGo Mobile with Topcon’s Powerful, Rugged GPS Device Enables Field Workers to Leverage GeoPDF® Maps and Images for Location-Based Information Collection and Exchange

Atlanta, Georgia — June 29, 2010 — TerraGo Technologies®, a leading provider of geospatial collaboration software solutions, has certified the Topcon GRS-1 mobile GPS device for use with the TerraGo Mobile™ software solution. TerraGo geospatial collaboration software creates easy-to-use, portable, and interactive GeoPDF® files from complex maps and images, enabling anyone to use powerful location-based information as well as collect information in a geospatial context. TerraGo Mobile enables users to interact with GeoPDF files — highly portable, interactive maps that feature embedded geographic coordinates, imagery, and GIS data — on smartphones and ruggedized handheld mobile devices.

The enhanced release of TerraGo Mobile software and the integrated technologies of the GRS-1 device add up to a powerful, cost-effective solution for users who want to take interactive GeoPDF maps anywhere, collect and share information instantaneously, and deliver current on-the-ground intelligence back to a central database. When running on the Topcon GRS-1, TerraGo Mobile can take advantage of the device’s internal camera to take detailed photographs of features in the field and easily reference images, notes, and other GeoMarks™ to geographic coordinates. The GRS-1’s internal GSM or CDMA modem can be used for immediate data exchange between the field and a central database. Digital photographs, updates to the GeoPDF file, GIS data and more can be sent from the field immediately to the GIS or applications such as Google Earth for instantaneous decision making.

"By working with TerraGo we are able to get a robust, yet simple, solution into the hands of mobile workforces so that they can improve efficiencies in their complex data collection tasks," said Richard Rybka, GIS Partner Development Manager at Topcon. "By increasing the amount, quality, and timeliness of data used for critical decision making and by keeping the technology learning curve low, TerraGo and Topcon offer a valuable return on investment."

According to Chris Watson, VP of marketing and business development for TerraGo, "Topcon has a strong footprint and exceptional devices for deploying GIS information that enables mobile users to improve productivity and make better decisions. The TerraGo and Topcon solution extends the reach and value of industry-standard GeoPDF files to new customers that are focused on putting geospatial information into the hands of mobile users so they can gather data, share spatial intelligence and complete the GIS collaboration cycle."

TerraGo (booth 2825) and Topcon (booth 2115) will be demonstrating the joint solution at the ESRI International User Conference in San Diego on July 12 – 16, 2010. For more information, contact sales@terragotech.com or visit www.terragotech.com/mobile.
