Bonestroo Announces New Associates

Mequon, WI (June 18, 2010) – Bonestroo, a full-service engineering, planning, and environmental science firm, recently named new associates. The firm’s associate program recognizes practice builders and provides a forum for leadership development. Associates are chosen based on their effectiveness in meeting the goals of the firm and its clients.

“Being named an associate is a testament to each individual’s performance,” says CEO Jerry Bourdon, “Their dedication to client service and improving our organization will continue to enhance Bonestroo’s ability to serve our clients—now and in the future.” 

New associates are:
Linda Brown, PLS (St. Cloud) – A professional land surveyor, Brown joined Bonestroo as a result of the 2006 merger with Surveying & Engineering Professionals, Inc. (SEP). A former owner of SEP, Brown has more than 20 years experience working with public and private clients throughout Minnesota.  She is currently treasurer of the Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors.

Phil Carlson, AICP (St. Paul) – A professional planner with 34 years of experience, Carlson is a recognized expert in his field. Besides providing planning advice to numerous Minnesota communities, he has served on the faculty of Government Training Services for more than 25 years and as adjunct faculty to the University of St. Thomas Real Estate program in Minneapolis.

Thomas Fidler, PE (St. Paul) – A registered engineer specializing in transportation, Fidler joined Bonestroo in 1994. He is known for his expertise with roundabouts, having designed more than 25 roundabouts in Minnesota. He is currently the only engineer in Minnesota approved by the Minnesota Department of Transportation to provide peer review for roundabout design.

Stuart Gross, PG (Milwaukee) – A professional geologist, Gross joined Bonestroo as a result of the 2009 merger with Northern Environmental. He has more than 15 years of environmental consulting and project management experience serving the private market. He routinely assists purchasers, sellers, and developers of real estate with real or perceived environmental issues related to their properties.

Stuart Krahn, RLA, LEED AP (St. Paul)  – Krahn, a registered landscape architect, serves as the firm’s Agency Sector Leader. He has been instrumental in establishing the firm’s presence in new client markets by delivering successful multidisciplinary projects. Under his leadership, the firm will continue to expand its capacity to serve county, regional, state, federal, and Tribal clients. 

Jeremy Mathiasen, PE (St. Cloud) – A registered professional civil engineer, Mathiasen joined Bonestroo in 1998. He serves as a municipal client service manager and City Engineer for Sartell, specializing in the planning and design of cost-effective infrastructure solutions for growing communities.

Charles Oehrlein (St. Paul) – Oehrlein, an electrical system designer and project manager , has been with Bonestroo since 1987. An expert in designing electric systems for a variety of project types, he specializes in supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) design for water and wastewater facilities. Oehrlein also leads Bonestroo’s brand promise team, a corporate initiative to improve client service and technical competence.

John Slack, ASLA (St. Paul) –Slack is a registered landscape architect with 14 years of professional experience in urban planning and design. John’s primary responsibilities include urban redevelopment and design, streetscape planning and design, bicycle and pedestrian enhancements, park and recreation design, green infrastructure and sustainable site planning. He serves both public and private clients in the Upper Midwest.
