Psomas Announces Five New Principals

Los Angeles, CA – January 20, 2010 – Psomas is pleased to announce the appointments of Craig Ahrens, PE, PLS; Alejandro Angel, PhD, PE, PTOE; Joseph Boyle, PE; Leslie Morton, PE; and Dave Moritz, PLS, EIT as Principals of the Firm.

Ahrens (right) is a Utah licensed professional engineer and land surveyor with 16 years of experience in site development, transportation, and transit projects. Ahrens’ expertise is in managing large-scale transportation and development projects. He is a team leader for the Survey Department in Psomas’ Salt Lake office and has been with Psomas for 12 years. Ahrens graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Environmental Engineering. He resides in Salt Lake City.

Angel (left) is a Vice President of Transportation in Psomas’ Tucson, Arizona office. Angel’s background includes a unique combination of roadway and traffic engineering design, with experience in highway design, traffic engineering studies, research projects, and the development of standards for local and national agencies. Angel and his design team have been instrumental in developing traffic engineering services for Psomas. Angel is also involved in several professional organizations and volunteer activities, including the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and the University of Arizona, where he serves as adjunct faculty for highway design. In 2009, the ITE Western District, which includes 5,000 professionals in 13 States, recognized Alejandro with the Young Professional Achievement Award for members under the age of 35. Angel earned his Masters Degree and PhD from the University of Arizona in Civil Engineering, with a focus on transportation, and he resides in Tucson, Arizona.

Boyle (right), a Vice President and team leader for Water/Wastewater Infrastructure in Southern California, has over 25 years of experience in the planning and design of water transmission, distribution and storage facilities. Boyle received his Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He lives in Laguna Niguel and is based in Psomas’ Orange County office.

Morton (left) is a Vice President and Regional Manager in the Psomas Salt Lake City office. A Utah licensed professional engineer with 16 years of experience in civil engineering, Morton’s expertise is in managing large-scale public and private-sector projects. She and has been with Psomas for 12 years. Morton has a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah. She resides in Salt Lake City.

Moritz (right) is a Senior Project Manager in Psomas’ Orange County office. He has over 18 years of experience in large scale surveying and mapping projects, including rail corridors, gas transmission pipelines, multi-site ALTA Surveys, environmental monitoring surveys, and municipal and transit agency on-call contracts. Moritz received his Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona. He currently resides in Huntington Beach.
