Walid Hatoum Appointed New President of PBS&J International, Inc.

Tampa, FL – The PBSJ Corporation Board of Directors has approved the appointment of Walid Hatoum as president of PBS&J International, Inc. Hatoum, who worked for PBS&J International’s sister company, PBS&J, from 1986 – 1990, joined PBS&J International as director of international business development in May. He has 27 years of experience in program management, project leadership, project engineering, business development, public relations and administration. He has held positions of increasing responsibility in the past 15 years, including leadership of large-magnitude programs with construction values in excess of $2 billion with multiple and simultaneous delivery orders, both in the United States and internationally.

According to John Zumwalt, chairman and chief executive officer of The PBSJ Corporation and presiding director of PBS&J International, “Walid is a game changer for us, and he has my full confidence. He is what we need to build our international presence as we fulfill our corporate vision of being a market-driven global family of businesses working toward the goal of improving life for generations.”

Hatoum replaces John Zumwalt who has served as president of PBS&J International since its inception. Prior to joining PBS&J International, Hatoum served as division manager for Parsons’ International operating out of London, England and Abu Dhabi, UAE. He also served as chief of party for the USAID Iraq Infrastructure Reconstruction Program, Phase II, in Baghdad, with responsibility for the water sector of that $1.7-billion program. More recently, Hatoum served as the US East division manager for Parsons Water and Infrastructure.

“PBS&J International will provide an unparalleled platform to optimize opportunities in the international market,” comments Hatoum. “We will build on The PBSJ Corporation’s remarkable achievements over the past five decades, but more importantly, mark the start of a new chapter for our company.”

Hatoum holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Tampa and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of South Florida. He is registered professional engineer in Florida. He is located in the Tampa office and can be contacted at 813.281.8224 or by email at wmhatoum@pbsj.com.
