Surdex Corporation Awarded Significant Contract with Dept. of Agriculture

Surdex Corporation announced today that a team led by the Company was awarded $7.6 million in task orders from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for its 2009 National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP).

Surdex is one of six prime contractors under a multiple-year IDIQ contract. Under the task-order arrangement, Surdex will be responsible for capturing and processing aerial imagery for six states—Idaho, Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming, Missouri and Michigan.

“Being responsible for one quarter of the total program award of $30 million speaks volumes for our acquisition and production track record on the program since 2002,” said Craig Molander, Surdex’ Vice President of Business Development.

The effort entails the acquisition of 1-meter resolution imagery using Intergraph Digital Mapping Cameras and the production of approximately 38,000 DOQQs with final deliverables due in mid-September of 2009. Most of the deliverables are natural color products, but some of the states will also involve the generation of multispectral products.

"Surdex is excited that the USDA has once again entrusted us with a significant share of the NAIP effort. This reflects highly on our team’s ability to acquire and process imagery under some of the most stringent schedules of any current mapping program,” said Ron Hoffmann, Surdex’ president.

Surdex’s teammates include Bohannan Huston of Albuquerque, N.M; MJ Harden, a GeoEye Company, of Mission, Kansas; and Ascent GIS of Spokane, Wash.
