BHC RHODES Voted Local and National Leader for Best Place to Work

It’s All About YOU is the mantra BHC RHODES has been chanting all the way to the top. The company recently won national recognition from CE News magazine as one of the top 50 Best Places to Work as well as a second-year nod from the Kansas City Business Journal as one of the top 10 local companies to work for. Securing second place locally last year, BHC RHODES is one of only eight firms in the top thirty companies for all sizes returning for a second straight year. The official rankings of the top 10 will be announced Nov. 1 during an awards breakfast hosted by the Business Journal.

Fifteen new employees joined BHC RHODES in 2006, adding depth to their technical and field expertise to meet increasing new project demands; an increase of 140% over last year. “This is a testament to the response we are generating with our customers, and response from industry professionals who have heard about our environment and want to work with us,” said President, Kevin Honomichl.

In the midst of growth BHC RHODES continues its focus on providing a great environment for the lifeline of its company: their employees. “We have an expanded criteria for how we hand pick every employee we hire. The decision is based on their skills and expertise for the position and as importantly, on their desire to deliver the best customer service in this industry day in and day out. We hire for an attitude of wanting to learn, grow and make decisions while working in an integrated team environment” continued Honomichl.

Kavin Cook, civil engineering technician, describes his thoughts about working for BHC RHODES. “You’re a part of what makes it a company; you’re not just an employee. Everyone has a voice and is heard. When I came to work here two years ago I thought, now this is what I’ve been looking for!”

The last two years have been great for the company and the employees. This February, the employees and a guest went to San Antonio as part of a reward and recognition program. In September BHC RHODES employees and customers celebrated at a private music, outdoor reception. The celebration recognized the companies forty-years of expertise in surveying; two local and national engineering leadership awards won on behalf of project manager Rob Krewson, P.E. and project engineer Randy Gorton, P.E.; office expansion into the historic Kansas City Kansan newspaper building in Kansas City, Kansas; and their double win for Best Places to Work.

“We continue to expand and evolve because of our philosophy of making the customer our primary focus, communication the center of our projects and hiring the best people,” continued Honomichl.

BHC RHODES is based in Overland Park, KS and was founded in 1992 to deliver outstanding engineering and surveying services and expertise. They differentiate themselves not by the services they offer, but by the way they deliver those services. They were voted one of the Best Places to Work both locally and nationally and celebrated their 14th anniversary this year. For more information visit their web site at ibhc.com.
