Lancaster, Pa. – RETTEW, a multidiscipline engineering, planning and environmental consulting firm, recently named Robert W. Allison, PLS; James P. Gyles, PE; Ronald L. Horst, PLS; Brian D. Kauffman, PE; and John A. Love, RLA, shareholders of the company. RETTEW extended ownership opportunities to the five individuals based on their leadership and dedication to the organization, as well as their support of the firm’s vision, mission and core values.

Allison
Allison joined RETTEW in 1997 as a result of the firm’s acquiring Catskill Mountain Surveying Services, P.C., and opening an office in Margaretville, N.Y. As director of the firm’s New York region, Allison has played an instrumental role in increasing RETTEW’s presence in the Catskill region, leading the firm to open a second office in New York, which is located in Liberty. Under Allison’s direction, RETTEW’s New York operations have grown from a staff of two surveyors to a diverse staff of 22, providing state and municipal government, developers and private residents with engineering, surveying, environmental and land planning services. Allison has nearly 30 years of experience as a professional licensed surveyor.
Gyles
As director of Transportation Engineering Services at RETTEW, Gyles leads the firm’s transportation group and provides direction on major transportation-related projects. Gyles has more than 24 years of experience and a thorough knowledge of Pennsylvania’s highway design requirements and traffic study procedures, which has resulted in RETTEW’s acquiring open-end contracts with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Engineering District 8-0. Gyles also oversees local bridge replacement projects, such as the replacement of Cocalico Bridge No. 6, also known as Royer Road Bridge, located in Ephrata Township, Lancaster County. The context-sensitive bridge design garnered a 2006 Diamond Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania (ACEC/PA) and the 2006 Award for Outstanding New Short-Span Bridge Category from the Association for Bridge Construction and Design (ABCD).
Horst
As director of Surveying Services at RETTEW, Horst is responsible for quality assurance and productivity for the firm’s largest service area, which comprises 55 employees in five offices in Pennsylvania and New York. In fiscal year 2006, survey work accounted for more than 20 percent of the firm’s total contracted work. Horst is also responsible for preparing proposals and coaching and evaluating project managers, as well as initiating business development and building client relationships. A professional licensed surveyor who has been with RETTEW for more than 22 years, Horst has participated in and directed a wide range of surveys for federal, state, and local governments as well as commercial, institutional and residential clients.
Kauffman
Although Kauffman has been with RETTEW since only 2003, he has contributed to the firm through various leadership roles. Currently, Kauffman serves as director of RETTEW’s eastern region, which extends from Schuylkill County east to Monroe County and south to Bucks County. In this capacity, he is responsible for quality assurance and quality control on projects, project delivery and leading strategic planning for business growth within the region. In addition, Kauffman continues to serve as engineer of record for several municipalities and municipal sewer authorities. Kauffman is a professional engineer with more than 23 years of experience.
Love
As director of RETTEW’s Land Development Services, Love is responsible for overseeing all land development operations and more than 40 staff in Pennsylvania and New York. Additionally, Love provides quality assurance oversight on projects and is active in client relationship management and business development for his service area. Love has significantly contributed to RETTEW’s success, with revenues for land development projects accounting for nearly one quarter of the firm’s total contracted work in fiscal year 2006. He is a registered landscape architect with more than 20 years of experience.
