Toronto, Ontario, February 1, 2005 – Optech Incorporated, the global leader in the manufacture and support of advanced laser-based survey instruments, is pleased to announce the sale of an ALTM 3100DC system to Beijing XTD Information Technology Limited Liability Corporation, marking the first airborne lidar system sale into China.
The world’s first 100-kHz airborne laser terrain mapper, the ALTM 3100 offers laser pulse rates as high as 100 kHz at 1,100 m altitude, producing elevation data of unparalleled density and unprecedented low cost per posting. Additionally, the system can fly up to 3,500 m with laser pulse rates as high as 33 kHz. The DC (digital camera) option features a 4k x 4k integrated metric frame digital camera for geo-referenced (XYZ) color or color-IR images with sub-pixel accuracy.
“Placing the first airborne lidar system into China is a major milestone for Optech in particular, and lidar in general,” said Don Carswell, President of Optech Incorporated. “We are delighted that Beijing XTD has chosen Optech’s ALTM 3100 with the DC option and we welcome them as the latest entrant into the worldwide ALTM user community.”
“This is a great technology for China and one that we see fulfilling many of our users’ requirements for accurate elevation models over a variety of terrain surfaces, from rural land to the high rise urban landscapes that have sprung up in recent years,” said Zhang Chao, General Manager of Beijing XTD. “Optech is the clear industry leader in airborne lidar technology and their ALTM 3100 system combined with the integrated digital camera will provide us with maximum operational flexibility and performance.”
“Beijing XTD has a reputation in China for embracing new technology and quickly putting it into production, and it’s exciting to be working with their team,” said David Collison, Regional Sales Manager, Pan Asia, for Optech. “We have always been confident that lidar would play a significant role in the Chinese geospatial market and this first system order is tangible proof.”
“Naturally we are excited about securing this first airborne lidar system for China,” said Tonsen Chuang, General Manager of Beijing ZhongHan Instruments Co. Ltd., Optech’s ALTM distributor in China. “It reinforces our partnership with Optech and highlights the value of the role we play in bringing world class technology providers like Optech together with progressive and dynamic companies like Beijing XTD.”
