Altus Positioning Systems to Distribute Surveylab ikeGPS Products

Torrance, Calif. – Sept. 27, 2011 – Altus Positioning Systems today announced that it has signed a value-added reseller agreement with Surveylab to offer ikeGPS multi-sensor data acquisition devices as part of its product portfolio.

The ikeGPS is the only system that combines a GPS receiver, laser rangefinder, 3-D compass and digital camera in a single ruggedized handheld device, providing a fully integrated low-cost solution for geospatial data acquisition. With ikeGPS custom software, the user can quickly compute positions of target items in photographs.

“We believe ikeGPS will be an important addition to our product line, complementing our own high-precision GNSS surveying products,” said Neil Vancans, CEO and president of Altus Positioning Systems. “We intend to package the ikeGPS product with specialized application software to address specific market segments needing sub-meter GPS positioning and data capture, such as law enforcement, municipal governments and the oil and gas industry.”

Vancans noted that for applications requiring higher positioning accuracies, the ikeGPS device can be interfaced with Altus’ APS-3 GNSS RTK survey-grade receivers.

“The agreement with Altus is consistent with our marketing strategy of providing cutting-edge solutions for customers in a wide range of industries through a global network of distributors and value-added resellers,” said Glenn Milnes, CEO of Surveylab. “We see a great deal of positive synergy between our two companies, and we look forward to a productive strategic relationship with Altus.”
