(Baltimore) – Joseph M. Miklochik has joined the firm as a Senior Associate and Section Head of the Right-of-Way Division in our Sparks office. He will be responsible for managing and growing JMT’s Right-of-Way Acquisition and Real Estate Services throughout JMT’s offices.
Mr. Miklochik comes to JMT following 23 years of service with the Maryland Department of Transportation, State Highway Administration’s (SHA) Office of Real Estate (ORE). He served as a member of SHA’s senior management team as Director of ORE from 2006 – 2010. In this position, he coordinated all activities associated with SHA’s real estate acquisition and disposal program. A major accomplishment during his tenure as ORE Director was overseeing the clearing of all right-of-way needed for the ICC mega project — 400 parcels, including significant residential and business relocations.
During his career with SHA, Mr. Miklochik performed appraisal, negotiation and relocation work. He also worked as a review appraiser and helped manage ORE’s Appraisal Review Division. Before being appointed as Director of ORE, he served as Deputy Director for several years, during which time his main function was to lead field operations throughout the state.
Mr. Miklochik holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Baltimore. He completed MSHA’s two-year Advanced Leadership program in 2007 and is a Maryland certified general real estate appraiser.
