(April 16, 2009) — GKS Inspection Services announced it is now offering daily, weekly, and monthly rentals of FARO portable measurement equipment, including the FARO LS-880 for long-range scanning projects. GKS is also offering training for the scanning device by a metrologist or trained engineer if needed.
This new scanner rental service will help others successfully gain entry into the long-range scanning arena. GKS can help with consulting, rentals, training, and data processing services.
Purchasing scanning equipment can be costly; GKS offers a more cost-effective solution by renting out the specialized equipment and providing highly experienced personnel to run it or to thoroughly train others in its operation.
GKS can also process the enormous volume of digital data generated by the long range 3D scanning systems as needed. Raw point cloud data can be exported into ASCII, DXF, DWG, IGES, and STEP. Scan data files can also be optionally post-processed into AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Pro/E, CATIA, UG, IDEAS, and more.
Steve DeRemer, General Manager, said, "This rental program is a great option for knowledgeable customers who need to utilize the equipment for a limited number of projects or for a temporary increase in their workload." GKS officials also noted that existing FARO customers are taking advantage of the rental program to fill in when their own systems are sent to FARO for factory calibrations and repairs.
The Faro LS and Photon systems are high-accuracy, high-speed, long-range scanners that are capable of scanning massive objects and area quickly. The measuring volume of these scanners is almost limitless. They can be used for scanning ships, roadways, buildings, bridges, and power plants.
