Hallowell, Maine – September 13, 2016 – Blue Marble Geographics and Alain Olivier Geomatique, Blue Marble’s partner based in France, are pleased to announce that the French Military of Defense (Ministère de la Défense) has signed a three-year agreement to deploy Global Mapper throughout all of branches of the country’s armed forces. This enterprise license provides unlimited access to Global Mapper’s powerful geospatial data processing and analysis functionality for all frontline and support defense personnel. The agreement also includes the use of the Global Mapper LiDAR Module, The Global Mapper Software Development Kit (SDK), as well as customized training and implementation services.
Blue Marble’s geospatial data manipulation, visualization, and conversion solutions are used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software, energy, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as government agencies and academic institutions.
The Ministère de la Défense selected Global Mapper because it offers the perfect balance of powerful GIS functionality, affordability, ease-of-use, and simplicity of licensing that facilitates rapid deployment in mission-critical situations. The software is capable of displaying, analyzing, and exporting virtually every type of geospatial data and includes intuitive tools for creating, converting, reprojecting, editing, cropping, tiling and mosaicking datasets of any size. Global Mapper’s powerful 3D visualization and terrain analysis functionality are ideally suited for optimized situational awareness and simulation of the theater of operations in the mission planning process. With the addition of the supplementary LiDAR Module, the department’s spatial analysts now have unrestricted access to an array of point cloud processing tools, including ground point detection and reclassification; automatic feature identification; and custom feature extraction. The inclusion of the Global Mapper SDK in the enterprise license agreement provides military software engineers with a powerful toolkit for integrating Global Mapper’s spatial data processing and visualization functionality into custom applications.
“We are honored to have been selected to provide GIS software and services for the French armed forces in their ongoing military and peacekeeping operations,” stated Patrick Cunningham, Blue Marble President. “The ministry’s decision to deploy Global Mapper is further evidence of the software’s growing reputation as an inexpensive yet powerful alternative to traditional GIS applications.”
“Because of this enterprise license, deployment of Global Mapper will be much more effective in the various entities of the Ministère de la Défense than it has been in past years,” added Alain Olivier.
To assist with the implementation of Global Mapper, Blue Marble Applications Specialists supported by Alain Olivier Geomatique will be providing tailored onsite training classes on the use of the software. The company will also be offering custom development support services to assist in the efficient application of the SDK tools.
