Aurora, CO – April 21, 2011 – Robert A. Berglund, RA, has been named Vice President, International Markets, for Merrick & Company, as announced by Ralph W. Christie, Jr., PE, Chair, President, and CEO of the firm. In this new position, Berglund will be responsible for international growth strategies for the firm, with particular attention on the firm’s four target markets of energy, national security, life sciences, and sustainable infrastructure. He will report to the CEO. Over the past few years, Merrick has continued to grow its international portfolio of projects, having worked in 19 countries outside of the U.S. In addition, the firm intends to expand its range of non-US projects beyond the current business locations in both Canada, where Merrick has worked for five years, and in Mexico, where the firm has worked for the past 14 years.
Berglund has been with Merrick for five years, where he was most recently the business unit manager responsible for operations management of the energy, national security, and life sciences projects. His 36 years of experience reflect officer- and director-level operations, including design, construction, and program and integration management contracts for defense, energy, space, transportation, and commercial markets for firms such as Bechtel National, Black & Veatch, and Holmes & Narver. Berglund is a member of Merrick’s Board of Directors and is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Architecture and Environmental Design.
