Manassas Park, VA, March 14, 2011: Thomas R. Rock has been named President of So-Deep, Inc. In his new position, Mr. Rock is responsible for The So-Deep Companies, which includes So-Deep, Inc., So-Deep US, P.C. and So-Deep Michigan, LLC. Mr. Rock had served as the companies’ Vice- President since 2007 before being named the new President. Prior to his position as Vice-President, Mr. Rock was So-Deep’s District Director of Southeast Operations, where he was responsible for all aspects of the companies’ administrative, marketing, and field operations for North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. He has 23 years of utility related work experience, with 18 of those working at So-Deep in many different capacities. Mr. Rock and his family relocated from Raleigh, North Carolina to the companies’ corporate headquarters in Northern Virginia.
So-Deep, Inc. was established in 1981 and is the original subsurface utility engineering (SUE) company. It coined the terminology of “designating” and “locating” as well as defined the four quality levels for underground utility data and all the tasks required for each level. It was instrumental in the development of the accepted engineering standard of “CI/ASCE 38-02: Standard Guidelines for the Collection and Depiction of Existing Subsurface Utility Data.” SUE is endorsed and widely used by State Departments of Transportation, as well as Federal Highway Administrations and local municipalities across the country, and So-Deep continues to lead the profession as one of a few nationwide SUE providers.
