Bowman Consulting Earns Prequalification as VDOT Right-of-Way Consultant

Company also announces first project awarded as a prime consultant

Chantilly, Va., December 5, 2012 — Bowman Consulting is pleased to announce that it was recently prequalified as a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) right-of-way consultant. The prequalification enables the firm to provide right-of-way acquisition and relocation services on VDOT projects as a prime consultant, positioning Bowman within a niche subset of engineering firms that have in-house right-of-way and relocation services.

Bowman was also recently awarded its first VDOT right-of-way project in the prime consultancy role, which was the firm’s first submission in this capacity coming right on the heels of the prequalification. The primary purpose of this project is to improve Route 229 in Culpeper, Va., from two lanes to five lanes.

“This prequalification places Bowman Consulting among a very select and esteemed group of companies,” said Ronnie Van Cleve, senior project manager, Bowman Consulting. “This further establishes Bowman as an accredited ‘one-stop shop’ for current and prospective clients seeking knowledgeable right-of-way acquisition and relocation services in the energy and transportation industries,” he added.

Previously the firm provided right-of-way services as a subconsultant for other companies in the prime consultant role. The prequalification is also expected to create a number of opportunities for Bowman to build and expand relationships with companies that lack in-house specialists or would normally outsource these services.

With over 60 years of combined experience in the utility, government, engineering, and transportation industries, Bowman’s growing right-of-way staff is well positioned to manage major transportation and energy right-of-way projects throughout the U.S.
