Charlotte, NC – October 4, 2012 – Sandy Turnbull, RLA, has been named a Vice President of Merrick & Company (www.merrick.com), as announced by Ralph W. Christie, Jr., PE, Chair, and CEO of Merrick. Sandy has been with Merrick nearly two years and over-sees operations at Merrick’s Charlotte, NC, office. As Vice President, she will serve as Merrick’s national leader for land development planning and design. She will be responsible for integrating the practices of planning and engineering for specific land development projects, leading community-based design workshops, and helping develop “green” solutions for sustainable development practices.
Prior to Merrick, Sandy was President of Turnbull Metzler Design, a highly respected Charlotte engineering and landscape architecture firm. She contributes more than 30 years in consulting for private sector clients and public agencies covering all aspects of land development planning and design. Her “hands-on” approach, along with her expertise in fully integrating the art of planning with the science of engineering earns her a strong reputation as a thought-leader in her industry.
Sandy is a licensed Landscape Architect, is CLARB Certified, and holds registration in several states while providing significant leadership to the industry. She is a past recipient of Women in Business Achievement Award bestowed by the Charlotte Business Journal and also a graduate of Leadership Charlotte, Class XVI. Sandy holds memberships with the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), and Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition (REBIC). She earned her B.S., Landscape Architecture, from the University of Virginia, School of Architecture.
