Thomas & Hutton Expands to Charlotte, NC

Charlotte, NC, November 28, 2016 — To better serve clients in the North Carolina Piedmont region, Thomas & Hutton is excited to announce the addition of a new office in Charlotte, North Carolina, led by our new Regional Director, J. Michael Barnes, PE, LEED AP. Barnes has the right mix of experience for this area and is a NC State graduate, holding both Master and Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil Engineering and Construction Management. He has 21 years of experience in project management for both public and private entities throughout the State. His background includes site development, water and wastewater, as well as management of institutional and commercial projects.

Joining Barnes in Charlotte are Designers, Matthew Kiker and Bradley Langley. Both are UNC Charlotte graduates with Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil Engineering. Kiker and Langley will assist Barnes providing services of Thomas & Hutton on the local level. This Charlotte team has extensive experience throughout both Carolinas and have worked on projects from Cherokee County to Brunswick County, NC.

“Having been a partner in a multi-disciplined firm, I’m excited about the opportunity to focus my efforts on the civil side of projects. My previous background of leading full architectural teams will allow me to better understand our clients’ needs.”

It is an exciting time for Thomas & Hutton as it expands to the Charlotte region. President and CEO, Sam McCachern states, “Thomas & Hutton’s expansion into North Carolina is an important part of our growth strategy. Charlotte is a dynamic region that offers different economic drivers. We believe North Carolina will continue to have strong job and population growth. We look forward to making a difference in the community.”
