See What’s New in Carlson 2016 at Intergeo, Sept. 15-17

Maysville, Kentucky, U.S.A. (September 2015)— Carlson Software experts will be demonstrating the newest features and overall effectiveness of its office design software at stand #C8.017 (Hall 8) throughout Intergeo, the world’s largest event for geodesy, geoinformation, and land management being held this year in Stuttgart, Germany, Sept. 15 through 17.

Among the top new improvements in Carlson 2016 is its support for AutoCAD® 2016 and IntelliCAD® 8.1. The recently released IntelliCAD 8.1 represents major improvements in its CAD engine technology, now including support for Microsoft Windows 10 along with multi-core processing when opening and regenerating files, which provides a 1.5 to 3 times performance improvement on multi-core computers.

“When anyone buys or upgrades to Carlson Software, they are then able to work on either AutoCAD or IntelliCAD,” says Bruce Carlson, president and founder of Carlson Software. “We feel it’s important to give our users the choice.”

Products to be demonstrated include Carlson Survey, Carlson Civil, Carlson GIS, and Carlson Hydrology, which together make up the Carlson Civil Suite.

The improvements to Carlson Survey for 2016 include:
• Added method to calculate a best-fit 3D line;
• Improved cut sheet report with added functions to set and modify values for elevation, station, and offset, plus added method to import from TDS raw data;
• Added method to renumber coordinates by adding prefix or suffix to point numbers; and
• For Deed Correlation, added method using polylines for input instead of points.
“The ability to apply full Field-to-Finish coding to all routines that draw points, as well as write comments or GIS attributes to further label points are other top features in Survey 2016,” says David Carlson, V.P. of Development for Carlson Software “We’ve also improved core survey commands in SurvNET, adding a method to draw the least-squares network graphics in the drawing.”

Enhanced collaboration options are highlights of the Carlson Civil and Carlson Hydrology 2016 releases. The new Settings Server enables CAD managers to easily distribute uniform command settings and files to Carlson users throughout their company. And, there is added support for the Subversion (SVN) server and the Bentley ProjectWise for additional “cloud” coordination for project data with Carlson Data Depot.

For Carlson Hydrology, in addition to the new ribbon toolbars for hydrology commands, new commands allow dynamic edits of the sewer network model in both the plan and profile views with just a screen pick.

Carlson’s 2016 release also includes: Carlson Point Cloud, Carlson Field, Carlson Mining, Carlson Construction, Carlson GeoTech, Carlson CADnet, and Carlson Trench (these last four make up the Carlson Takeoff Suite), and Carlson Natural Regrade, all featuring their own industry-specific improvements.

In the 2016 release of Carlson Mining modules, which include Carlson Geology, Carlson Surface Mining, Carlson Underground Mining, and Carlson Basic Mining, added functionality for multi-level, underground mine design and planning, advanced haul truck cycle analysis, new underground solids commands for creating and merging, and added Gantt chart output options in Underground, Surface, and Spoil timing routines are just a few in the long list of improvements.

Carlson Takeoff 2016 has new and enhanced commands to easily add labels to drawing entities for Export Google Earth and data conversion features to convert Carlson points. Another top new feature is the Image Rubber Sheet, a new command to adjust an aerial image to fit specified control points. For those running the software on IntelliCAD®, the ribbon toolbar interface is now available in Takeoff 2016 to organize the tools necessary to create or modify drawings. Carlson Takeoff and its modules also work on AutoCAD versions 2010 and up.

In addition to its indoor location, Carlson will also be conducting live demonstrations of its Carlson-branded land surveying hardware, which has been developed specifically to optimize Carlson software, in its outdoor stand, FG.004.
