AIA Continuing Education Approved for Basics of 3D Laser Scanning and Modeling

Westford, MA, August 21, 2014 – LandTech Consultants (LandTech), Inc, a progressive civil engineering and land surveying firm, has become an Approved Provider (AP) in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Continuing Education System (CES). This status enables LandTech to deliver educational and professional development coursework to AIA members seeking to enhance their skills and earn required AIA Learning Unit Hours (LUs).

AIA members are required to earn at least six LUs annually to maintain membership in the professional membership association for licensed architects, emerging professionals, and allied partners.
LandTech will kick-off its educational offerings with a one-hour session titled “Understanding the basics of 3-D Laser Scanning & Modeling for Architects.”

“We have been delivering our 3-D laser scan and model seminar series to leading Boston-based architecture and heavy construction firms for over a year now,” said Christopher M. Lorrain, president and founder of LandTech Consultants, Inc. “It is terrific to now be able to deliver AIA LU credits for the course so that they not only gain an understanding of the design, build and cost benefits of 3-D on a project but they earn course credits towards their annual AIA membership. Win-win.”

“The use of 3-D laser scanning and technology in commercial architecture is fast becoming the de facto standard for creating existing condition plans,” continued Lorrain. “In addition we are discovering new time and cost saving applications for the technology in the project management process.
Understanding the benefits and uses of the technology is knowledge that will benefit both firm and client alike as projects are increasingly completed on time and on budget, and client satisfaction increases.”

The first in the LandTech 3-D series is a one-hour course that delivers the basics of 3-D laser scanning & modeling. Dynamic images and in-depth case studies illustrate for attendees the benefits of applying the technology to today’s complex, time and budget sensitive projects.
