Dawood’s Joy Ruff Appointed to Governor’s Pipeline Taskforce

Harrisburg, PA; July 8, 2015: Dawood Engineering, Inc. (Dawood) is pleased to announce the appointment of Joy M. Ruff, AICP, Director of Planning and Community Relations, to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Pipeline Infrastructure Task Force. Ms. Ruff will be part of the Workforce and Economic Development Workgroup, where she and others will develop recommendations and best practices, for consideration by the task force in developing recommendations to Governor Tom Wolf on pipeline infrastructure development. The workgroup will also focus on identifying approaches to creating opportunities for existing and new Pennsylvania businesses and manufacturers to utilize natural gas, including business recruitment strategies and developing a skilled workforce.

“I was happy to recommend Joy to serve on this workgroup of the DEP Pipeline Infrastructure Task Force. Her past experience with the Marcellus Shale Coalition, and her current position in the industry with Dawood, make her an excellent choice. Joy has been, and will continue to be, a positive force for Minority Business Development and inclusion,” said Alexander Nichols, Jr., COO of the Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council. Mr. Nichols was one of several industry, public, and elected officials who endorsed Ms. Ruff’s nomination.

As Dawood’s representative to the PIOGA Board of Directors, she works with both conventional and unconventional producers and midstream operators to address legislative and regulatory issues. As co-chair to the Land Affairs work group, which is a conservation-themed committee of the Marcellus Shale Coalition (MSC), she is responsible for organizing educational forums and demonstration projects that build relationships with governmental, non-governmental and other stakeholder organizations that have missions of environmental stewardship, natural resource conservation, or expansion of species and supporting habitats. Her experience in the industry and her professional training as a planner make her an ideal candidate to advise the Commonwealth on matters of infrastructure development.
