Stennis Space Center, MS – The Enterprise for Innovative Geospatial Solutions (EIGS) announced the launch of a new geospatial book in both print and eBook editions by, Joel Lawhead, CIO of EIGS member company NVision Solutions, Inc. The book is published by Packt Publishing and titled the QGIS Python Programming Cookbook.
The book targets geospatial analysts and programmers who want to learn more about automating geospatial tasks using the open-source QGIS desktop GIS program and the Python programming language. The book is a technical "cookbook" featuring over 140 short, reusable recipes which make concepts easy to understand allow users to build larger applications that are easy to maintain when recipes are combined.
This title is Lawhead’s second geospatial book following "Learning Geospatial Analysis with Python" released in 2013 and slated for a second edition this year. "Open-source geospatial technology has evolved to the point that there is a lot to write about," said Lawhead, "The geospatial user community is larger than ever and the industry is growing globally. These books help geospatial professionals and people in other industries who use geospatial technology solve problems and make better decisions using free tools."
Packt Publishing contracted with Lawhead based on his popular blog GeospatailPython.com which focuses on using the Python programming language in the geospatial industry.
