DOF Subsea Expertise To The Fore During Ocean Business 2015

14th April 2015 – DOF Subsea will join a host of leading companies in sharing their knowledge and expertise during Ocean Business 2015 in Southampton, England this week.

During the April 14th to 16th event, Norway-based DOF Subsea Survey Project Manager Celina Thom will give a presentation entitled: “Deconstructing workflows to solve the problems of today” where she will examine how current systems and practices might be overhauled or even removed in favour of new ways of handling and presenting digital data and metadata in a way that truly meets the needs of the industry in 2015.

Celina Thom holds a Masters in GIS and Remote Sensing from the University of Cambridge and has been with DOF Subsea for nine years, having previously worked as a data processor/cartographer. Celina’s Ocean Business presentation will take place at 9am on Wednesday, April 15th.

Meanwhile, from 1030 – 1130 on the same day, DOF Subsea Global AUV Manager Sean Halpin will be at the Teledyne Marine Systems Dockside and Classroom Sessions; Students Centre Room 121/05 to talk about: “Reducing the risk and cost of oil and gas operations with Slocum gliders.”

Sean Halpin graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Science from the Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine. He is a marine scientist, inventor and geophysicist with 15 years of experience in marine robotics, offshore survey and oil and gas field development.

His presentation will include the evaluation of several real-world operations including the use of systems for current measurements, oil plume identification and tracking and drilling support. It will look at how gliders have and will continue to offer a reduction in operational cost and risk.
