Austin, TX — February 16, 2015 — Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) has established a new office in Kansas City, Kansas. SAM is one of the largest geospatial companies in North America and Kansas City furthers the firm’s geographic expansion with its tenth office.
Scott Perkins (right), GISP, has joined SAM in Kansas City as Office Manager. He will also be the Director of Federal Programs, responsible for leading the firm’s federal business portfolio. With more than 33 years of industry experience, Perkins has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and an Associate’s Degree in Photogrammetry. He is a Certified GIS Professional (GISP) and is an active member of several professional organizations, receiving federal appointments to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration – Hydrographic Services Review Panel (NOAA – HSRP) Federal Advisory Committee, and chairing the Small Business Administration (SBA) Regulatory Fairness Board for Region VII, both of which required White House approval. His experience with the SBA provided him with a thorough understanding of the challenges that face small businesses.
Perkins also served on the Board of Directors of the Management Association for Private Photogrammetric Surveyors (MAPPS) and as Treasurer of the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Central US Region, receiving a Presidential Citation for Service from each organization. Additionally, he was elected Assistant Chair of the ASPRS Photogrammetric Applications Division (PAD) in 2014.
