Fairfax, VA—September 10, 2014 – Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has promoted Amar Nayegandhi, CP, CMS, GISP, to associate vice president and director of remote sensing in the Tampa, Florida, office. With more than 15 years of remote sensing experience, he is a recognized expert in topographic and bathymetric LiDAR data acquisition and processing, having authored 15 referred manuscripts in various research and technical journals and more than 65 reports for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
Nayegandhi developed original algorithms for airborne topo-bathymetric LiDAR sensors. In addition, he has expertise in the analysis of waveform, point cloud, and digital elevation model data in submerged, sub-aerial, and vegetative coastal environments. As director of the remote sensing services line at Dewberry, he oversees the execution of all remote sensing geospatial projects for USGS, NOAA, USACE, and FEMA, as well as several municipal and state clients.
Nayegandhi has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Mumbai and a master’s degree in computer science from the University of South Florida. He is a certified photogrammetrist and certified mapping scientist–remote sensing, and is an active member and chair of the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Topobathymetric LiDAR committee. He has presented and published much of his work at conferences and in publications and has won USGS’s Excellence and Extra Mile awards for his contributions to the remote sensing industry.
