Livermore, Calif., USA/ Capelle A/d Ijssel, The Netherlands – August 19, 2014 – Topcon Positioning Group has entered into a worldwide distribution partnership agreement with Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) provider MAVinci GmbH.
As the result of the partnership — Sirius — a fixed-wing UAS series guided with Topcon GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) positioning and powered by MAVinci technology will be available globally.
“The new system is the first commercially available UAS that can reach an extreme level of accuracy without the need for ground control points,” said Eduardo Falcon, executive vice president and general manager for the Topcon GeoPositioning Solutions Group. “By expanding our arrangement to a worldwide level, more companies will benefit from the enormous reduction in operational costs that the high-accuracy aerial mapping system will provide.”
Based in St. Leon Rot, Germany, MAVinci specializes in solutions for aerial surveying and the development of UAS technology.
“The expansion of our distribution agreement with Topcon to a global scale increases the availability of our products, adding greater value to our global distribution network,” said Johanna Claussen, CEO at MAVinci GmbH. “The UAS delivers results of two-to-five-centimeter absolute accuracy by using the 100 hertz Topcon GPS module in combination with an advanced integrated camera. The MAVinci autopilot allows for stable and precise navigation even in highly-demanding situations,” Claussen said.
