MicroSurvey Releases STAR*NET 8 for Improved Least Squares Adjustment

The latest version of the world’s most popular least squares adjustment software for land surveyors improves productivity and increases confidence in the results from an expanded range of locations worldwide.

(West Kelowna, BC, Canada – May 13, 2014) – MicroSurvey is pleased to announce the release of version 8 of STAR*NET, the world’s most popular least squares adjustment software. With a substantially expanded coordinate system engine and direct support for the latest geoid models, MicroSurvey STAR*NET 8 makes it even easier for land surveyors in any location to seamlessly introduce the least squares network adjustments and corrections necessary to ensure accurate and reliable data.

The latest release includes the CS-Map coordinate system engine with more than 3,800 predefined coordinate systems worldwide, as well as a new custom coordinate system editor that supports a broad range of datum transformation and projection types.

STAR*NET 8 also includes direct support for the latest geoid models published by national agencies like the United States National Geodetic Survey and Natural Resources Canada, including Canada’s newer .byn format for geoids like HT2.0. The ability to eliminate the geoid conversion step and use the original model saves valuable time and increases confidence.

For users with Leica Geosystems instruments, an improved STAR*Leica DBX conversion utility provides the ability to convert resection data and to convert sets of angles data using either the average of each set (as before) or using all shots for improved redundancy and increased confidence in data accuracy.

Easy to learn and use, MicroSurvey STAR*NET handles networks containing conventional observations combined with GPS vectors, with up to 10,000 adjustable stations. Differential leveling observations can also be included within a 3D adjustment. Whether a survey consists of a single-loop traverse or a complex network of interconnecting traverses, all observations are adjusted simultaneously to produce a single best-fit solution.
