UltraCam Eagle Purchased by New Italian Company IRS srl

February 13, 2014 — Italian Remote Sensing srl (IRS) has contracted to purchase an UltraCam Eagle digital aerial photogrammetric camera system with an 80mm lens from Microsoft’s UltraCam business unit and subsidiary.

IRS is a start-up company owned by Luca Rampa based in southern Italy. Its focus is photogrammetric aerial surveys and data processing, including the creation of orthophotos, topographic maps, thematic maps and more. IRS intends to use the UltraCam Eagle to serve clients in the public and private sectors throughout Europe and North Africa.

“IRS selected the UltraCam Eagle as its first digital airborne imaging system based on its high-volume data acquisition capabilities, excellent data quality, and ease of installation and use,” stated Eng. Luca Rampa, CEO of Italian Remote Sensing srl. “The UltraCam Eagle is exceptional in terms of performance during flight missions and workflow, which will allow us to complete our projects at maximum efficiency from start to finish.”

“In addition, Microsoft is a strong and well-respected partner for our business,” continued Rampa. “We have a very good relationship with Microsoft and are impressed with their technical support.”

The UltraCam Eagle is designed with an exchangeable lens system, which gives IRS the option of later adding a 100mm lens for projects where building lean is an important consideration and the 210mm lens for high-altitude flying.

“The UltraCam Eagle is an excellent all-around digital camera system, especially for a start-up company that needs reliability and impeccable performance to establish itself in the market,” said Alexander Wiechert, Microsoft Business Director. “Microsoft is pleased to have IRS as a new customer.”

About the UltraCam Eagle
The UltraCam Eagle features a pan image footprint of 20,010 pixels across the flight strip and includes enhanced electronics for improved frame rate and less noise (72 dB signal-to-noise ratio for high image dynamic) when compared to previous UltraCam systems, and innovative high-resolution, high-performance lenses and state-of-the art CCD technology (@ 5.2 µm pixel size) for sharp images with a high dynamic range. The UltraCam Eagle is the first multi-cone large format digital photogrammetric camera to offer an exchangeable lens system with 80mm, 100mm, and 210mm options. This digital camera system boasts an integrated housing concept with all of the parts residing in a modular sensor head. The small physical form factor of the UltraCam Eagle requires minimal space in the aircraft and makes installation and operation simple.
