Topcon’s Burgess to Present 3D Laser Scanning for Revit User Groups

Livermore, Calif. – Wednesday, September 4, 2013 – Topcon Positioning Systems’ national sales manager for scanning products, Brad Burgess, will present “3D laser scanning in building-construction applications” at Revit User Group meetings in Oakland on Sept. 10 and San Francisco on Sept. 11.

The presentation will provide an overview of 3D laser scanning technology along with tips on how Revit® users can best engage with point cloud data. Autodesk® Revit is software for architectural design, MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) engineering, structural engineering, and construction.

Burgess said, “From as-built surveys in BIM (Building Information Model) applications, to QA/QC (quality assurance/quality control) surveys and material stockpile measurements, 3D laser scanning technology is quickly becoming an integral part of today’s A/E/C (architect/engineer/contractor) workflows. I look forward to sharing information on the technology along with examples of its practical applications through BIM case studies.”

The East Bay Revit User Group presentation is scheduled for noon to – 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) East Bay in Oakland. The San Francisco Revit User Group session is scheduled for noon - 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11 at AIA San Francisco.
