April 24, 2013 – KS Associates, Inc., a civil engineering and surveying firm located in Elyria, Ohio, was selected by Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) to provide On-Call Surveying Services under a $200,000 task-order-based contract. The 24-month contract commenced in January 2013. Surveying services performed by KS Associates will augment RTA’s in-house surveying personnel and will support various design, infrastructure improvement and property acquisition projects.
The RTA Board selected KS Associates upon the recommendation of RTA staff. KS Associates has experience in performing complex boundary research, and has performed similar work for rail-related and public clients such as Norfolk Southern Railroad, the City of Cleveland and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District.
KS Associates has provided surveying services to RTA in the past, in support of important rail and roadway infrastructure improvements. Work has included surveying necessary to realign and relocate tracks to retire the Kingsbury Tunnel, a light-rail junction connecting the Red and Green-Blue Lines, which had been in place since the early 1900s; to rehabilitate the 45-year-old Red Line Airport Tunnel beneath Cleveland Hopkins International Airport for improvement of track and drainage systems; for the design of the RTA West 117th Street Rapid Station; and for the Euclid Corridor Transportation Project, a $200 million urban infrastructure improvement that allows the City of Cleveland to move more than 20,000 people per day along Euclid Avenue, to two of the largest employment centers — downtown Cleveland and University Circle.
