Dewberry Welcomes Expertise of Jack Vega

Fairfax, VA—March 13, 2013 – Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has recently rehired Jack Vega, PE, as a manager of site/civil services in the firm’s Fairfax, Virginia, office. Vega’s primary duties will include integrating Dewberry’s full-service site/civil engineering, land planning, and land development capabilities throughout Northern Virginia; growing the firm’s private- and public-sector client base.

Vega began his engineering career at Dewberry in 1988. In 1999 he transitioned to a position at Toll Brothers, where he supervised engineering, planning, and land surveying professionals for more than 13 years. He also guided the engineering group’s expansion to other markets.

“Jack has nearly 25 years of experience with large master-planned communities that incorporate commercial, institutional, and municipal components, which makes him a great asset to the company,” says Kurt Thompson, executive vice president at Dewberry. “His experience throughout his career with planned mixed-use and transit-oriented development projects, such as the first phase of Freidheim Quadrangle at American University, the Portals’ Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Maine Avenue in Washington, D.C., and Moorefield Station in Loudoun County, are invaluable in meeting the challenges our communities face now and in the future. This prior experience in the D.C. Metro region uniquely qualifies Jack to guide and support our multi-disciplined teams and our clients through the entitlement and engineering challenges that often accompany such complex projects.”

“Using my skill set, including nine years with Dewberry previously, I look forward to expanding Dewberry’s client base and services, as well as assist in integrating our services across multiple regions,” says Vega. “I also look forward to mentoring our next generation of leaders at Dewberry. Our varied portfolio of work, which ranges from federal to local and private development work, will be very important in attracting top civil engineering graduates.”

Vega holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech. He is a member of the Engineers and Surveyors Institute, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
