Topcon Releases ScanMaster CAD Link for GLS-1500

Livermore, Calif. – November 27, 2012 – Topcon Positioning Systems (TPS) announces the release of ScanMaster CAD Link which provides users with an interactive link between ScanMaster and AutoCAD® software and enables efficient feature extraction and drawing of objects.

CAD Link is an optional extension for ScanMaster software for Topcon’s GLS-1500 laser scanner.

Brad Burgess, TPS North American sales manager for scanning products, said, “This linkage dramatically enhances workflows that have historically relied on the manual process of moving point cloud data to the AutoCAD environment.

“The software allows an operator to display ScanMaster and AutoCAD screens side-by-side, enabling coordinates and ortho-images to be moved between those two screens seamlessly,” Burgess said. “This allows an operator to easily draw objects using familiar AutoCAD commands.” Additionally, he said, “The ScanMaster CAD Link makes the workflow of editing point cloud data collected by the GLS-1500 scanner through the drawing operation via AutoCAD very smooth and efficient.”

The main functions of CAD Link for ScanMaster are as follows:
• Synchronize views between ScanMaster and AutoCAD.
• Send coordinates, distances by picking scans data.
• Send ortho-images as background images of AutoCAD screen.
• Synchronizing UCS (User Coordinate System).
