Woolpert Signs Sewall on to Maine Statewide Orthoimagery Program

Sewall Knowledge of Maine Communities Is Key to Program Buy-Up Potential

(Old Town, Maine—12 November 2012). James W. Sewall Company recently contracted with Woolpert, Inc., to deliver geospatial products and services under the Maine GeoLibrary Orthoimagery Program.

Launched in early 2012, the program is a five-year initiative to collect and provide online delivery of new orthoimagery for the entire state. The data includes four-band imagery at two-foot or one-meter pixel resolution. Maine municipalities, state and local organizations have an additional buy-up option to purchase higher-resolution orthoimagery, LiDAR data, and GIS map products derived from the imagery, such as contours, land use/land cover, impervious surfaces, building footprints, and wetlands and vernal pool delineation.

Sewall’s geospatial, engineering and natural resource professionals will complement existing program partners Woolpert and Kappa Mapping in geospatial data acquisition and development services. Sewall staff will also play a key role in communicating to clients and local constituencies the benefits of the program.

Woolpert Project Manager Brian Stevens, CP, SP, says, “Sewall brings not only technical expertise and experience to the team, but knowledge of Maine and the needs of Maine’s communities. Sewall’s connections will be invaluable as we develop the enormous buy-up potential of the program.”
