July 30, 2012 – Calgary, Alberta – LiDAR Services International Inc., (LSI) announced award of a substantial LiDAR mapping contract from Manitoba Hydro in the Province of Manitoba, Canada. The contract award pertains to the airborne LiDAR data collection on over 1800 linear km of existing transmission lines for vegetation management and thermal rating analysis.
In addition, LSI will fly approximately 130 km of proposed new transmission line routes in the Province. “LSI is very pleased to have been awarded this large contract with Manitoba Hydro through a competitive bidding process,” said Tony Tubman President of LSI. “Our team has considerable experience working in the Province over the last 10 years, and we are looking forward to returning for this project.”
LSI will use their proprietary MATRIX LiDAR system equipped with a Riegl waveform scanner and various imagery sensors including a 21 megapixel oblique digital still camera and a new SONY HD video camera both installed in the LSI EXOCAM forward camera ball for a Bell 206B helicopter.
