Aurora, CO – July 27, 2012 – Merrick Nuclear Services & Technology team was awarded additional contract value by Jacobs Engineering for engineering design services for the proposed Spent Fuel Handling Facility planned for the Naval Reactors Facility (NRF), at the Idaho National Laboratory. Merrick is providing multidisciplinary engineering support for this project, which will provide additional capability for nuclear spent fuel handling. B&WTSG Y-12 awarded Merrick additional contract value under an existing contract to continue design support of process systems for the proposed new Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) to be located at DOE’s Y-12 National Nuclear Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN. This facility will provide improved safety and capability for meeting the US START treaty requirements. Los Alamos National Security, LLC, the US Department of Energy’s prime contractor at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM, awarded Merrick a number of new tasks for design and construction of modifications to Technical Area-55, a US DOE Category 2 nuclear facility.
Merrick Life Sciences has been retained by The Institute for Animal Health (IAH), to provide high containment commissioning and validation consultancy and a Design Review and Qualification (DR/DQ) analysis for the Development Program 1 (DP1) Pirbright Laboratory Project, in Pirbright, Surrey, United Kingdom (UK). Merrick is assisting IAH in assessing the status and compliance of the contractor’s design proposals and to offer best practices for bio-containment systems installation, commissioning and performance validation. Pirbright is the UK’s foremost laboratory site for animal disease research. Merrick is assisting IAH in assessing the status and compliance of the contractor’s design proposals and to offer best practices for bio-containment systems installation, commissioning and performance validation. Merrick has also been retained by Diamond Schmitt Architects, Inc. for the Public Health Laboratory at MaRS Phase II in Toronto. Ontario Infrastructure and Lands Corporation (IO) on behalf of the Client, Public Health Ontario (PHO) will provide a new public health laboratory in Toronto. This project is approximately 14,900 rentable square meters, (160,000 rentable square feet) and includes CL-2 and CL-3 laboratories and associated support systems, as well as related office, administrative and support spaces. Merrick is assisting with laboratory planning, CL-2, -3 process designs integrated with layouts and equipment, security design and architectural support and lead containment planning and engineering for CL3 containment laboratories.
Merrick Civil Engineering/Infrastructure group was recently notified of two proposed Chick-fil-A sites located in Denver West and Highlands Ranch. Merrick has provided Civil Engineering and Surveying services for Chick-fil-A sites located throughout Colorado since 2004. Merrick is also working with the Cherry Creek State Park division on roadwork. In addition, Merrick has been selected to provide civil engineering services for site development of a new facility at the Young Israel Synagogue site, Atlanta, GA. Finally, Merrick was awarded a task with the City of Colorado Springs to provide independent inspection services for snow removal in Grid 5 of the City. This task included oversight and inspection services in the northern most grid section of the City that is being out sources to a private ontractor. Merrick is also providing similar snow removal consulting services for the City of Centennial and the City of Castle Pines.
Merrick GeoSpatial Solutions has been retained to provide light detection and ranging (LiDAR) services and topographic mapping on a three year contract for the Tallahassee-Leon Country GIS, in Florida. Merrick also recently completed LiDAR collection and deliverables for the Illinois Department of Transportation that will be used as base data for regional hydrologic modeling projects and for engineering location studies. Illinois State Geological Survey selected Merrick to provide acquisition, processing, and delivery of airborne Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) elevation data in support of the Illinois Height Modernization Program (ILHMP).
