MDL Appoints New Global Technical Services Chief

A new global service manager has been appointed by UK eye-safe laser measurement technology specialist, Measurement Devices Ltd, (MDL), as part of the company’s international growth strategy.

Martin Carr, based at the company’s headquarters in York, England, takes charge of all MDL’s servicing teams in York, Aberdeen, Melbourne, Houston and Ottawa, Canada, and is also responsible for the training and development of staff at its independent accredited service centres worldwide.

He joins from global manufacturer of surveying and positioning equipment, Topcon Europe Positioning B.V. where he was a project manager and previously business and service manager for Topcon in the UK.

In his new role at MDL Martin Carr will oversee the service and support of the complete MDL product range from the underground void scanner, C-ALS® and mining and aggregate profiling system, Quarryman®, to marine dynamic positioning system Fanbeam®, used internationally in the mining, quarrying, civil engineering, automotive and maritime sectors.

Martin Carr, who has been in laser surveying for more than 25 years, says: “MDL’s technologies are used in challenging, rugged environments. My role ensures that all our service departments  maintain uniform quality standards to support their longevity, functional performance and accuracy.
