In an ever more safety-focused industry, the C.A.T4™ and Genny4™ ranges build on over 30 years of Cable Avoidance expertise to enable operators to find more buried utilities, faster. These two innovative tools have been engineered to deliver a step change in cable and pipe locate capabilities, with minimal change in work practices and training requirements.
Included in the C.A.T4 range are the eC.A.T4 series products, incorporating over a year’s worth of data acquisition capacity, recording key locate parameters including mode used, Genny signal detection, control settings and warning statuses, to enable managers to rapidly verify correct usage and identify training needs.
Rapid utility detection is provided by the new Avoidance Mode™, which lets the operator check an intended excavation area for all locatable signals simultaneously, and pinpoint located utilities, in a single scan. The cutting edge Dynamic Overload Protection feature enables operators to locate even in areas of high electrical interference, such as substations or under High Voltage cables.
The new Genny4 provides a class-first dual frequency feature. Two frequencies are transmitted simultaneously to facilitate location of small diameter cables such as telecoms and street lighting, including spurs. For tricky locates, the new Power Boost function enables the locate signal to travel further and deeper, and couple onto utilities more easily.
C.A.T4 series products guide users towards better and safer working practices with the optional SWING™ feature which warns of incorrect usage patterns, and the StrikeAlert™ shallow utility warning. Service policies can be assured with the optional CALSafe™ feature, which deactivates units automatically following a 31 day countdown to the service due date, while the eCert™ feature provides a rapid internet-based calibration and generates a Radiodetection Certificate which can be printed or saved on demand.
