kubit enhances the PointSense Family with Major Upgrades to Plant and the Addition of Heritage

This year at Spar 2012, kubit will introduce a new product, PointSense Heritage, and new versions for PointSense Plant and PointCloud. The latest member of the PointSense family, PointSense Heritage, will provide tools for creating typical deliverables in historic preservation and archeology. Heritage combines classic kubit PointCloud tools with functionality from PhoToPlan, kubit’s well established photogrammetry software. This combination of photogrammetry and laser scanning allows for high resolution and high accuracy in one package. Interesting features will include creation of true ortho-images and the unwrapping/projection of cylindrical objects in images or point clouds (towers, vaults, façades, roofs etc.) for creation of image plans on historic buildings, ceiling paintings etc. The additional ability to combine images with clouds during the drawing process helps archaeologists and monument conservators to derive needed 2D or 3D deliverables.

PointSense Plant: Steel Extraction is here
Steel and profile extraction: The next generation of PointSense Plant includes a number of new tools for automating the modeling process, but the most anticipated addition is automated extraction for structural steel. Two mouse clicks will fit a beam, which is a vast improvement from previous manual methods. Structural steel recognition helps to further complete the design needs for users that already enjoy pattern recognition for pipes and inline fittings. Users can also create custom 2D profiles which the software will recognize in the scan and expand into a 3D object.

Direct integration with AutoCAD Plant 3D: The new release will also interest current AutoCAD Plant 3D users as kubit will integrate directly with AutoCAD Plant 3D objects. This cuts down on the overall process of converting point clouds to intelligent plant objects; streamlining the workflow from point cloud to deliverable formats (isometrics, orthographics, etc).

Additional features include a number of improvements to "Walk the Run" for speeding up the pattern recognition of pipes and inline fittings as well as support for sloped piping detection and modeling.

kubit PointCloud 8:
kubit continues to support the classic kubit PointCloud and PointCloud Pro software for AutoCAD. These products provide essential solutions for post-processing scan data in the well known AutoCAD environment. Improvements in the new release include edge and plane detection enhancements, new cloud section management options , easier deviation analysis with new reporting tools and new imports for Leica, Z&F, Topcon and the E57 format.

All new releases will be compatible with AutoCAD 2013 and will be available in May. Kubit will also host a series of webinars during May to formally introduce the new products in detail.
