RETTEW Welcomes Cawthern, Johnson, Johnson, Kollmar, Paoly and Weaver

Lancaster, Pa. — RETTEW, an Engineering News-Record top 500 design firm providing engineering, transportation, environmental consulting, planning and surveying services, recently welcomed new hires Robert D. Cawthern, Jaime L. Johnson, PG; Joel G. Johnson, PE; R. Douglass Kollmar; Daniel R. Paoly, GISP; and Andrew C. Weaver, PE.

Robert D. Cawthern
Cawthern is a senior environmental scientist in the natural sciences division in RETTEW’s Pittsburgh, Pa., office. He assists natural gas clients with their facilities siting by providing wetland and stream delineations, functional assessments and threatened and endangered species surveys. A professional wetland scientist with 25 years of experience, Cawthern is a graduate of Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy. He is an active member in the Society of Wetland Scientists, the Association of State Wetland Managers, Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Professionals and the Botanical Society of Western Pennsylvania. He resides in Clinton, Beaver County, Pa.

Jaime L. Johnson, PG
Johnson is a senior project manager in the geosciences division in RETTEW’s Pittsburgh, Pa., office. She is responsible for managing all aspects of projects for several of RETTEW’s natural gas clients. Additionally, she is tasked with business development and expanding RETTEW’s client base in the oil and gas market sector in the Pittsburgh region. Johnson comes to RETTEW with more than 11 years of experience in petroleum geology and environmental consulting. She has served as program manager for large baseline and stray gas programs within the Marcellus Shale and also as an operations geologist and petrophysicist. Johnson is a member of the Marcellus Shale Coalition, the Pennsylvania independent Oil and Gas Association, the Independent Oil and Gas Association of West Virginia and the Women’s Energy Network, Appalachian chapter. A registered professional geologist, Johnson has a bachelor’s degree in environmental resources from California University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in geology from Eastern Kentucky University. She resides in Allison Park, Allegheny County, Pa.

Joel G. Johnson, PE
Johnson is a project manager in the land development division in RETTEW’s Mechanicsburg, Pa., office. He works with RETTEW’s natural gas clients in the design and site development of well pads and pipelines. He also develops stormwater management and erosion and sedimentation control plans. Additionally, Johnson is tasked with providing quality assurance/quality control and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Johnson has 15 years of experience in land development planning and design in the public and private sector, including numerous airport and pipeline network projects. He has performed groundwater modeling for environmental investigations and hydraulic modeling in support of capital planning and operation of water pipelines. Johnson has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Cornell University and a master’s degree in civil engineering from Michigan Technological University. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and resides in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pa.

R. Douglass Kollmar
Kollmar is an engineering technician in RETTEW’S civil/municipal division in the firm’s Lancaster, Pa., office.  He assists with project management and coordination, floodplain studies, environmental permit acquisition, design, computer-aided drafting (CAD), municipal plan reviews and quality assurance/quality control. Kollmar has 24 years of civil engineering experience in both the public and private sector. He is well versed in subdivision land development design, stream encroachment permitting, project management, floodplain studies, bridge safety inspections, construction inspection and stormwater management.  Kollmar is certified by the National Institute for Certification of Engineering Technologists (NICET) in erosion control and underground utilities. Additionally, he is certified by the Federal Highway Administration and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for safety inspection of in-service bridges. Kollmar has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from LeTourneau University. He resides in Spring Grove, York County, Pa.

Daniel R. Paoly, GISP
Paoly is a project manager in the geographic information system (GIS) division in RETTEW’s Pittsburgh, Pa., office. He is responsible for managing GIS-related portions of projects that involve planning and identifying locations for well pads, water impoundments and temporary waterlines for RETTEW’s natural gas clients. Paoly has ten years of experience providing GIS expertise for a wide variety of projects including infrastructure, hazardous waste, municipal mapping, transportation, trail improvement and socio-economic analysis. A certified geographic information systems professional (GISP), Paoly has a bachelor’s degree in geography from the University of Akron and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) with a concentration in international business from Point Park University. He resides in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa.

Andrew C. Weaver, PE
Weaver is a senior engineer in the civil/municipal division in RETTEW’s Lancaster, Pa. office. He is responsible for providing stormwater management expertise on projects for RETTEW’s civil municipal clients. Specifically, Weaver is tasked with developing stormwater management, floodplain and water quality plans for clients, coordinating with various government agencies to ensure plans meet state and federal regulations and providing quality assurance/quality control. Weaver comes to RETTEW with 25 years of civil engineering experience. He specializes in hydrology and hydraulics of stormwater runoff/stormwater management for municipal clients. He previously served as assistant county engineer and water resources engineer for Lancaster County, where he oversaw the county’s stormwater management program. Weaver has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Drexel University and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He resides in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pa.
