Contract will help educate public on flood risk insurance
Fairfax, VA—November 9, 2011—Dewberry has recently been awarded a general floodplain management tasks contract with Bartow County, Georgia. The tasks will involve public outreach to educate the community on flood risks and provide advice on flood insurance purchase, as well as support to the county with various engineering, consulting, and GIS-related services.
Bartow County’s purpose behind each task is to communicate flood risk, identify dangerous flood hazards, assist hazard mitigation efforts to reduce the potential loss of life and property damages, and support the county’s efforts to administer the floodplain management ordinance.
Two years ago, Dewberry water resources engineers and consultants completed a countywide floodplain analysis to identify existing and future land use condition floodplains for over 800 stream miles.
