President and Founder of SDC Survey Robert Kan Joins Carlson Software Development Team

Robert Kan, MS, of Haymarket, Va., has joined Carlson Software Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer. Kan brings more than 20 years experience in computer programming, focusing on CADD design, GIS, GPS, civil engineering, surveying, mapping and management.

As the founder and president of SDC Survey (a.k.a. AutoSOFT Solutions INC.), Kan developed an AutoCAD®-compatible desktop mapping, survey application and civil design program. The software transfers data from data collectors to the user’s computer and then processes the data to automatically produce a map.

“We are excited to have Robert join our exclusive team of software developers,” says David Carlson, V.P. of Development for Carlson Software. “The features in his surveying and mapping software generated a large and loyal following and he will be working on building these features into Carlson.”

As a pioneer in automating design and drafting processes, Kan integrated civil engineering, survey, GIS, GPS and construction into the automated systems

“I’m thrilled to be working at Carlson and to join my expertise with theirs,” adds Kan. Kan will continue to be based in Haymarket, Va.
