RETTEW Welcomes Beattie, Mertz, VanZile and Wysocki

Lancaster, Pa. – RETTEW, an Engineering News-Record top 500 design firm providing engineering, transportation, environmental consulting, planning and surveying services, recently welcomed new hires Timothy P. Beattie; Jeremy R. Mertz, PE; LaRue S. VanZile, PE, PLS; and Clarence W. Wysocki, PE.

Timothy P. Beattie
Beattie is senior program manager for oil and gas services, primarily responsible for expanding RETTEW’s program management capabilities to natural gas clients. He is tasked with business development, client relationship management and providing guidance on business activities with regard to natural gas projects. In addition, he serves as technical leader and consultant on natural gas projects.    

Beattie brings to RETTEW more than 27 years of experience in petroleum engineering, with a particular focus on exploration, development and production operations for oil and gas properties. He has worked for several global energy companies and leading natural gas and petroleum providers to areas throughout the United States. 

Beattie has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Penn State University and a bachelor’s degree in applied physics from Shippensburg University. He resides in Boalsburg, Centre County, Pennsylvania.

Jeremy R. Mertz, PE   
Mertz is a senior engineer in the transportation group. He works in RETTEW’s Mechanicsburg office and is responsible for planning, developing and coordinating all the technical phases of roadway management for RETTEW’s natural gas projects. Additionally, he is tasked with quality assurance/quality control and scheduling oversight.

Mertz has more than 12 years of experience in the transportation design and construction industry; he previously served as a senior civil engineer supervisor for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) District 5-0. He has provided construction support services on projects, including interstate reconstruction, roadway rehabilitation, bridge construction, and streetscape/beautification projects. Mertz also has more than ten years of experience in land development and surveying.

Mertz is a registered professional engineer and Penn State University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering technology. He resides in Jonestown, Lebanon County, Pa.

LaRue S. VanZile, PE, PLS
VanZile serves as a senior project manager in energy services within RETTEW’s environmental engineering group. Working from the firm’s Williamsport office, he is responsible for performing contract administration for pipeline construction projects on behalf of RETTEW’s natural gas clients. He provides quality assurance/quality control reviews and is tasked with ensuring that projects are constructed in accordance to plans and specifications.

Previously the director of engineering and facilities management at Williamsport Municipal Water Authority and Williamsport Sanitary Authority, VanZile has more than 35 years of experience in the environmental/civil engineering field, which includes expertise in design and operational aspects of municipal water and wastewater facilities. He is well versed in planning, project reviews, contract management, field investigations, report preparation, construction inspection, funding management and equipment testing and approval. 

A registered professional engineer and professional land surveyor, VanZile has an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology from the Pennsylvania College of Technology (formerly the Williamsport Area Community College), a bachelor’s degree in water resources engineering from Penn State University and a master’s degree in environmental pollution control from Penn State University.

He is a member of the American Water Works Association, the Water Environment Federation, the Pennsylvania Water Environment Association and the Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors. VanZile also founded the Williamsport area chapter of the Tiadaghton Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF), an organization dedicated to the conservation of elk and other wildlife. He presently serves as RMEF district chairman. He resides in Mainesburg, Tioga County, Pa.

Clarence W. Wysocki, PE
Wysocki is a senior engineer in energy services within the firm’s environmental engineering group. Working from the firm’s Mechanicsburg office, he is responsible for pipeline routing and permitting, including mapping review, field investigations, site planning, site design, and Erosion and Sediment Control General Permit (ESCGP) submittals, for natural gas projects.

Wysocki has more than 16 years of experience providing civil engineering designs for clients in the industrial, commercial, institutional, and residential markets. His experience includes site assessment, site design, subdivision and land development planning, permitting and project management.

A registered professional engineer in Arizona, Nevada, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, Wysocki has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers and The Nature Conservancy. He resides in Enola, Cumberland County, Pa.
