(April 12, 2011) – Ryan Schmitt, president of Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc., has been awarded the Ditchdigger of the Year Award from the National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA). NUCA is the largest national trade association representing utility and excavation contractors.
“The Ditchdigger of the Year Award has a history of recognizing many great NUCA contractors,” said Ryan Schmitt (right), president of Petticoat-Schmitt and 2011 NUCA chairman. “As a long-time advocate for the utility and excavation contracting industry, I am honored to receive the award and to be included among the many great past recipients of this award.”
NUCA awarded Schmitt with its coveted Ditchdigger of the Year Award at its recent NUCA EXPO at the El Conquistador Resort in Las Croabas, Puerto Rico. The award is given annually to a NUCA contractor member who has made a significant contribution to NUCA and the utility and excavation construction industry. Schmitt has been a tireless advocate for the utility contracting industry on a local, state and national level since beginning his career in civil construction in 1990.
Schmitt’s company, Petticoat-Schmitt, was previously the recipient of two of NUCA’s most prestigious awards, the William Feather Safety Award and the National Community Service Award.
