Consense 2011 – International Trade Fair and Congress for Sustainable Building, Investment, Operations and Maintenance/ Panel discussion with Bruce Mau and Peter Sloterdijk
Tübingen/Stuttgart, April 2011. A conference featuring first-class experts, in-depth workshops and a trade fair with numerous exhibitors from all branches of the construction and real-estate sectors – these are the factors that guarantee the success of Consense, which is being held for the fourth time from June 29 to 30, 2011 in Stuttgart. The conference will focus on sustainability issues that affect existing buildings. The topic will be discussed on a number of different levels, ranging from urban planning and aspects of social responsibility to applying concrete solutions.
Consense has established itself as an international exchange platform for the sustainability sector. At the invitation of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and Messe Stuttgart, internationally renowned architects, engineers, project developers and investors will present showcase projects and discuss their experiences.
This year’s special guests and keynote speakers are Bruce Mau and Peter Sloterdijk, who will open the conference. As a philosopher, Sloterdijk has focused intensively on current developments in society. He has cast his gaze on the relationship between humans and the environment, built-up residential areas and sustainable urban development. Canadian designer Bruce Mau is one of the leading creative minds of North America and one of the first crossover artists between design, graphics and architecture. His Massive Change project exemplifies his approach: "It’s not about the world of design. It’s about the design of the world."
The conference, which will feature experts of the first rank, will focus on the question of how we will live in the future – and more specifically, how we will deal with existing buildings. Panel discussions will bring together experts from different branches: architects meet sociologists, urban planners debate with politicians, project developers and investors present innovative concepts for restoring and operating buildings.
Consense offers the opportunity to study issues in depth at more than 20 different workshops. The topics range from best-practice examples to sustainable facility management and current funding possibilities.
On both days, the trade fair will present forward-looking developments, products and services. Additional attractions include special theme parks and an exhibit entitled "Renovating for Sustainability".
Each year, the awarding of the DGNB Certificates is an eagerly anticipated event at Consense. At the end of the first day of the trade fair and conference, objects that demonstrated exemplary planning or implementation are honoured with the DGNB Certificate. For the first time this event will also be open to trade fair visitors, giving interested participants an overview of recent sustainable building projects.
Until April 30, 2011, conference attendees can take advantage of discounted two-day passes. The trade fair can also be visited independently of the conference.
