RETTEW Strengthens Environmental Engineering Operations

Hires Key Staff in Mechanicsburg and Lancaster Offices

Lancaster, Pa. — RETTEW, an Engineering News-Record top 500 design firm providing engineering, transportation, environmental consulting, planning and surveying services, recently strengthened its environmental engineering operations by hiring key staff. 

“These gentlemen bring a great deal of expertise to RETTEW and will benefit both our firm the many clients whom we serve,” said Mark Lauriello, PE, president, RETTEW. “I welcome them to RETTEW.”    

Gregory J. Gromicko, PE, MBA
Gromicko (right) serves as group manager for RETTEW’s environmental engineering group in the firm’s Mechanicsburg, Pa., office location. He is responsible for managing the daily operations of the group and administering projects across multiple service areas within the organization to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Gromicko also provides quality assurance, is responsible for business development and serves as coach and mentor to project managers and other professional staff within his group.

Gromicko brings to RETTEW more than 24 years of experience in environmental engineering, which includes project management for industrial, municipal, state and federal programs; he also has design and regulatory compliance expertise. Gromicko holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Penn State University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh. He resides in York, York County, Pa.

Dennis L. Hammaker, PE
Hammaker (left) is a senior engineer in the firm’s Lancaster environmental engineering group, responsible for providing quality assurance and budget administration for water and wastewater projects; he also serves as coach and mentor. Hammaker has 35 years of experience, which includes project management and technical engineering of water and wastewater utility projects, master planning and hydraulic analysis. 

Hammaker is a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania, Florida and Tennessee and has a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He resides in West Earl Township, Lancaster County, Pa.

Christopher W. Underwood, PE
Underwood (right) is a project manager in RETTEW’s Lancaster environmental engineering group, responsible for providing project management and client relationship management to several of the firm’s natural gas clients. In addition to project oversight and budget administration, Underwood assists natural gas clients in achieving environmental compliance by guiding them through Pennsylvania’s regulatory and environmental permitting processes.

Underwood brings to RETTEW nearly 15 years of experience in chemical and environmental engineering, with an emphasis on multi-media permitting, industrial wastewater treatment, water resources and site remediation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Penn State University, a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a master’s degree in water resources and environmental engineering from Villanova University.

Underwood is a member of Pennsylvania Water Environment Association, Water Reuse Committee, and the Water Environment Federation. He resides in Chester Springs, Chester County, Pa.

Nathaniel Weinstock
Weinstock (left) serves as marketing and business development specialist in RETTEW’s environmental engineering group, with a particular emphasis on promoting services related to air quality and noise issues to both private- and public-sector clients. He also provides technical support to RETTEW’s environmental engineering group by assisting with the development of technical and cost proposals and budget management on projects for both private-sector and public-sector clients. 

Weinstock has more than 11 years of experience in the environmental consulting field, which includes his performing transportation noise analysis and mitigation design for several state transportation agencies and clients in the commercial and industrial markets. In addition to traffic noise analysis and mitigation design, he also provides air quality assessment and permitting.

Weinstock has a bachelor’s degree in public service from Penn State University and is a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Professionals and the Transportation Research Board’s ADC40 committee on transportation-related noise and vibration. He resides in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pa.
