Karlsruhe, 28 February 2011. Last year’s INTERGEO sent out clear growth signals and encouraged exhibitors and visitors alike to look forward to the next event from 27 – 29 September 2011 in Nuremberg. INTERGEO 2011 will showcase trends and developments that emerged last year. "From 3D developments to satellite applications, the number of increasingly complex systems and solutions is growing all the time, the range of offerings is becoming broader and new sectors are opening up for development," says Olaf Freier, CEO of HINTE GmbH and organiser of INTERGEO. Geodata is a key element in today’s IT applications and INTERGEO is the central information hub for this, covering aspects that range from recording and processing geoinformation to distributing and supplying it. This is the third time that the world’s leading conference trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management is under the patronage of the German Federal Ministry of the Interior.
In 2010, 17,500 trade visitors and 1,500 conference participants attended the most important industry event of the year, which is organised by DVW – the German Society for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management. "It featured more than 500 exhibitors from 32 countries, with more than 30 percent coming from outside Germany. Also, one in every four visitors came from abroad, underlining the international importance of the three-day conference trade fair," adds DVW President Prof. Karl-Friedrich Thöne. Olaf Freier has high expectations of this year’s event: "Nuremberg has the advantage of a strong tailwind from INTERGEO 2010. The upward economic trend will also impact on the geo industry. Given the geographical location of Nuremberg, the eastern European region will also play a more significant role this year." Companies and visitors alike will be able to enjoy not just wider-ranging content, but also additional networking opportunities within the sector. A special mix of print, online and mobile communications will promote existing dialogue between market participants.
Focus on start-ups
The latest exhibitor survey indicated that INTERGEO is either important or very important for some 87 percent of the exhibiting companies, while target achievement is at almost 90 percent. Given these results, it is no surprise that INTERGEO is the most important industry event of the year for new companies. It is the third time that the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) will be sponsoring start-ups and new companies interested in taking part in the joint presentations OSGeoPark and Innovation Park at INTERGEO in Nuremberg. Interested companies can contact the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) directly via its website www.bafa.de. BAFA will cover 80 percent of the trade fair costs up to EUR 7,500, falling to 70 percent from third-time participation. Eligible for sponsorship are legally independent start-ups based and operated in Germany that are looking to exhibit new products and/or processes. They must have a workforce of less than 50, generate annual turnover of no more than EUR 10 million and, at the time of INTERGEO, should have launched their products/services on the market within the last 10 years.
Optimal INTERGEO conditions – strong economic region
With or without sponsoring, Nuremberg is an excellent choice of venue for the 17th INTERGEO trade fair. With 21 administrative districts and twelve independent cities, the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region is one of Europe’s strong economic areas. With a growth rate of 22 percent (1997 to 2006), Nuremberg is the third most powerful driving force in Germany after Munich and Frankfurt/Rhein-Main. Some 27 million people live here within a 200-kilometre radius. The Nuremberg economic region is one of the most important locations for IT and communications technology, boasting some 200 companies with around 90,000 employees. Nuremberg ranks sixth among German trade fair venues and also makes it into the top 10 in Europe.
