Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors Awarded Contract for San Marco Streetscape Improvements

Jacksonville, Fla. (Feb. 2, 2011) – Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc. has been awarded the contract to complete the San Marco Streetscape improvements by the City of Jacksonville. The $6.1 million construction project will have nine phases and take place over a two-year period.

“We are excited to be building this project. San Marco is an important and historic neighborhood,” said Ryan Schmitt, president of Petticoat-Schmitt and 2011 National Utility Contractors Association chairman. “The project’s goal is to improve the infrastructure of the roadway while also adding to the aesthetics of the pedestrian areas of San Marco Boulevard. The design provided by RAM Professional Group integrates the historic details of the neighborhood and provides an excellent plan for Petticoat-Schmitt to build from.”

The San Marco Streetscape project features the installation of new storm drains, water mains, sanitary sewer, buried electric lines, roadway, sidewalks and new landscaping along with two roundabouts at Naldo Avenue and Landon Avenue. Additional project highlights include new historic reproduction streetlights, signage and brick pavers. During the nine-phase construction process, several detours will be created to accommodate local traffic. The project is underway as phase 1 is already complete.
