TopSURV 8 Sets New Industry Standards for Field Data Collection and Control

Livermore, Calif. – December 21, 2010 – Topcon Positioning Systems’ (TPS) TopSURV 8, the newest version of the popular TopSURV field controller software series, has enhancements to increase productivity on a variety of survey jobs.

The new software provides significant new functionality on cross-section staking on roads, import and export of road strings, graphical user interface, multiple new map views, file import/export, in-field status reporting and much more.

Jason Hallett, TPS senior manager for application software, said, “TopSURV sets the industry standard for field data collection. TopSURV 8 provides field functionality, flexibility, and customization not found in any other field package, while further simplifying and increasing the speed of data collection and delivery.”

TopSURV software is used to collect data with Topcon’s complete lineup of field controllers, as well as the innovative GRS-1 GNSS RTK receiver. TopSURV 8 controls all of Topcon’s positioning hardware, including GNSS receivers, Millimeter GPS+, total stations, robotic total stations and digital levels. “No matter how many instruments the surveyor uses,” Hallett said, “TopSURV stores configuration files for every Topcon instrument so there is no wasted configuration time. Switching between various field tools is a snap.

“TopSURV 8 is the perfect software for any ‘office-to-field-to-office’ solution that a surveyor or a civil engineer might need,” Hallett said. “From basic operation to the most advanced slope staking and roading routines, the package offers an unprecedented level of customization to work as simply or as detailed as the project requires.

“There is no question. TopSURV 8 is the best the industry has to offer.”
